Find trails starting or passing through specific areas of your choice
The Search by Passing Area tool filters trails that pass through specific areas of interest. As a filter, the more areas you add, the narrower your search becomes.
How to Search
- Using the popular Waypoints
- Select a Popular Waypoint.
- A dropdown window will open with a button that allows you to search for trails passing through this point.
- Selecting any point on the map by long-pressing on it
- Long-pressing on the desired location on the map.
- Please note that there might not be trails passing through every point on the map. The Popular Waypoints are strategic points where many routes converge, ensuring better search results.
Steps to Use the Search by Passing Area
- Access the Search by Passing area feature from Explore > View Map.
- Search for a Popular Waypoint or select a point on the map where you want your route to pass.
- Tap on the Popular Waypoint or long-press on the desired point.
- A dropdown window with several options will appear:
- If you’ve selected a Popular Waypoint, you’ll see photos of this point and a list of the contributors who made this waypoint popular. Tap on Search for trails passing here to explore trails that pass through this waypoint.
- If you’ve selected any other point on the map, tap on Search for trails starting here or Search for trails passing here to explore trails near the selected point. If you’re not close enough to the desired area, you will be asked to zoom in on the map.
- Move around the map to position the circle over the next area you want to mark. You can mark up to one starting area and four passing areas.
- To remove a passing area, tap the X at the top-right of the circle.
Viewing the Trails
- Once you have marked the waypoints through which you want your route to pass, the trail cards that match this filter will appear at the bottom of the screen.
- You can scroll through the carousel of cards to explore the different trails and see their tracks on the map.
- Tap on a card to view the full trail details.
