Creating a Waypoint with the App
Don't have the Wikiloc App yet? Get it here!
Mark the most relevant points of the trail you are recording!
When recording a trail, whether you are in "Map" mode (seeing the layout on the map) or in "Data" mode (viewing statistics), a button with a camera/flag icon will appear in the lower-left corner of the screen.
Create a waypoint with a photo
- Click on the Camera/flag icon.
- Take the photo and press the Use Photo button (button on the right).
- If you wish, you can also Retake the photo (button on the left).
- You will access a screen to fill in the data for the new waypoint.
On the creation screen for the new waypoint, you can add the following information:
- Type of waypoint: Select one of the 40 different types (peak, lake, river, waterfall, spring, cave, hazard, viewpoint, wildlife observation, shelter, parking, etc.).
- Name of the waypoint
- Description
- Add photos
If you don't have time to fill out the information at the time of the Waypoint creation, there are two options to do so later on before uploading it:
- While recording: Click on the waypoint flag on the map.
- At the end of the recording: In the trail form (final step before uploading the trail).
Once uploaded to Wikiloc, you can edit it on
Wikiloc's website.
Creating a Waypoint without photo
Press the
camera/flag button for a few seconds until the two options are displayed. Choose the
flag option: You will record a waypoint without having to take a picture. You will be sent directly to the screen where you can fill in the details for this new waypoint.
