How to prevent my Wikiloc profile from appearing on Google?
Unfortunately, the profile cannot be set private. However, you can change the username to something less personal.
To change the username of your Wikiloc account, you must follow these steps:
- Access the Wikiloc website and log in with your username.
- Click on your profile picture at the top-right of the page. A menu will pop up.
- Click Settings.
- In the Personal Information section, you can change the username directly.
You can also change your profile image to something less personal.
Changes on Wikiloc are not reflected on Google: my name, photo, and trails are still appearing
I have changed my username and photo and logged out, but a Google search still shows my name, photo, and routes, even those I have deleted or marked as private. What can I do?
When content (e.g., text, photo, trail, or even an account) is deleted from Wikiloc, the information is immediately removed from our servers and becomes permanently inaccessible. If you click on the link in the photo on Google, you will see that the content is no longer accessible.
The content that appears in Google search is what Google has indexed and is beyond our control. Google conducts regular reviews, and when it is detected that content is no longer available online, it is archived or removed. The time this process may take is uncertain, as Google’s algorithms are confidential.
To expedite the process, Google offers this form, where you must follow the steps listed under the section Learn how to request a refresh of a changed or deleted image from Google Search.
